HAMBURG INNOVATION PORT
General information about the project
The HAMBURG INNOVATION PORT (HIP) is a technology and innovation center in the vicinity of the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH), the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the Fraunhofer Society, connecting business and science. The main tenant is the TUHH with various institutes in accordance with the growth concept adopted by the Hamburg Senate. HAMBURG INNOVATION PORT specifically seeks out companies that match the respective research areas in order to achieve the greatest possible synergies. Thus, it also offers the best conditions for establishing an active start-up scene.
Privately initiated, financed and operated by the Hamburg-based company HC HAGEMANN, the innovation location offers space for research institutions and technology-oriented companies in the form of offices and coworking areas as well as laboratories and spaces for research, development and manufacturing. The project is being realized in Harburg’s inland harbor on an area of around 20,000 m² based on the master plan by architects MVRDV (Rotterdam).
The HAMBURG INNOVATION PORT is being built modularly and in several construction phases. The first building „HIP One“ with around 6,000 m² GFA was occupied in 2019 by tenants from business and science. The largest construction phase „HIP Two“ with 20,000 m² will be realized starting in 2021.
